Cult of the Lamb: Woolhaven Is Out, Adding Ranching and a Frozen Mountain Region

·

Cult of the Lamb's Woolhaven expansion launched on January 22, 2026, for PC, PlayStation, Xbox and Switch. It sends the Lamb to a snowbound mountain, puts the whole cult through a harsh winter and adds a ranching system for raising, riding and, if needed, eating animals.

Cult of the Lamb came out in 2022 and mixes dungeon runs with a base where players manage the followers of their cult. Massive Monster has kept it going with free updates since then, while the paid DLC packs mostly added cosmetics, according to Insider Gaming. Woolhaven is the first large expansion players have to pay for, and according to Push Square, the developers describe it as almost doubling the base game.

The story picks up where the base game's main story left off, and Massive Monster says the expansion only becomes accessible near the end of the base game. According to MP1st, players need to have beaten the four Bishops, the main bosses of the original campaign, but not the final boss.

Winter reaches the cult

Woolhaven is the ancestral home of the lambs. Yngya, the God of Winter, asks players to return the lost souls scattered across the mountain, and each soul makes Yngya stronger, which brings new problems for the cult. On the mountain itself, players fight through two new dungeons full of creatures corrupted by the Rot.

Back at the base, blizzards and freezing temperatures set in. Followers start to freeze if players don't keep them fed and warm, and new buildings help protect them from frostbite and famine.

Ranching comes with the rebuild

Returning souls also brings the town of Woolhaven back to life. Players clear rubble and rebuild shops, and that unlocks ranching at the cult base. The rare animals there provide wool, warmth and, when things get desperate, meat. Players can tame and ride them, and followers take care of them.

According to Push Square, crops don't grow during winter, which is where the animals come in. Raising cute animals and eating them when the harvest fails is about as Cult of the Lamb as a feature can get.

Price and a free base game update

Woolhaven costs $16.99 (16.99€) and requires the base game on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S or Switch.

The same day, all players get a free base game update, which Massive Monster says includes requested features, changes and hundreds of bug fixes.
