Fortnite's Halloween event, Fortnitemares 2026, began October 1, 2026, bringing Freddy Krueger to Battle Royale and themed content to Horde Rush and Reload.
At Nightmare Neighborhood, a new map location, Freddy waits for players to challenge him. Beating him awards Freddy's Nightmare, an item that lets players teleport into range and slash an opponent. The Bonerattler is a new submachine gun that reveals enemies through walls.
Five Nights at Freddy's animatronics also roam the island as enemies. Defeat one and players can possess it to fight as the animatronic.
In returning Horde Rush, squads fight waves of Cube Monsters, buy and upgrade weapons, and eventually face a final boss. Fortnite's Reload mode brings back Nightmare Island with a refreshed map and horror weapons, while Stranger Things and Squid Grounds join its map rotation.
Epic's announced crossover lineup also names Hazbin Hotel, A Nightmare on Elm Street, Beetlejuice and Obsession. The full Fortnitemares announcement details the event's weapons, map changes and modes. Fortnitemares runs through November 1, 2026.
