Grand Theft Auto VI will cost $79.99 for the Standard Edition, Rockstar Games and its parent company Take-Two confirmed on June 24. Pre-orders for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S will open at midnight local time on June 25, and an Ultimate Edition will cost $99.99.
Rockstar announced on June 18 that pre-orders would start on June 25, but it gave no price at the time. Ahead of the reveal, players had speculated that Rockstar might go past the current $70 limit for a base game.
Rockstar calls the game a single-player experience. The announcement does not say whether GTA VI will get an online mode.
The Ultimate Edition adds premium vehicles, weapons and apparel, plus in-game shops that only Ultimate owners can use, such as vehicle mod shops, a clothing store, a hair salon and a tattoo parlor. According to Rockstar, these extras unlock as the story moves through its chapters. Players who buy the Standard Edition can get the Ultimate content through a separate upgrade, but the announcement gives no price for it. I'd want to know that price before picking an edition. The full list of Ultimate Edition content is on TheSixthAxis.
Every pre-order, and every purchase before November 20, includes the Vintage Vice City Pack. It has a '55 Vapid Stanier sedan with its own garage, outfits for the main characters Jason and Lucia, and a palm-tree weapon pattern inspired by Tommy Vercetti's shirt from Vice City. Digital pre-orders on the PlayStation Store or Microsoft Store also get a free month of GTA+, Rockstar's subscription for GTA Online. It includes a monthly cash deposit in GTA Online, discounted vehicles and a rotating library of older Rockstar games.
Prices are listed at the moment in US dollars only. Rockstar has not shared prices for other regions.
The game will be sold through the PlayStation Store, the Microsoft Store, the Rockstar Games Store and retailers worldwide. Boxed copies contain a download code instead of a disc.
Rockstar says the boxed version will be available starting November 12, the same day digital pre-orders can begin pre-loading. Pre-loading means downloading the game ahead of time so it is ready when it unlocks. Grand Theft Auto VI launches on November 19.
