Rockstar is taking pre-orders for Grand Theft Auto VI: The Goodtime State – Vice City Collection, a collector's box that starts shipping on November 19. A copy of GTA 6 is not part of it.
What's in the box
The set is themed around Macca the Gator, a TV show that exists inside the game's fictional state of Leonida. It includes a Macca figure, Oakley Frogskins sunglasses, a crossbody bag, a New Era cap, a shot glass, pins, stickers, and a double-sided poster with a full map of Leonida. Rockstar lists every item in its announcement.
The box costs $399.99 (399.99 €) on the Rockstar Store, and shipping is extra. Players still have to buy the game on top of that, and the Standard Edition costs $79.99 (79.99 €).
Rockstar only sells the box while supplies last and has not yet said how players in Asia, Latin America, and Australia can order it. This week the store also added a wider GTA VI Collection with T-shirts, hats, a keychain, and a Zippo lighter.
Rockstar has done this before
The Collector's Box for Red Dead Redemption 2 also came without the game. Rockstar said at the time that this let players pair the box with whichever edition they wanted, physical or digital.
Blizzard took a different route with WoW
Blizzard's Collector's Edition for World of Warcraft: Midnight comes with a key for the expansion's Epic Edition. Players who had already bought Midnight digitally on Battle.net get that money back as Battle.net Balance once they redeem the Collector's Edition code, as long as they do it before the end of 2026.
Personally, I find Rockstar's approach a shame. Anyone paying that much for a box of GTA merch is about as dedicated as fans get, and a credit like Blizzard's would have been a fair way to thank them.
GTA 6 launches on November 19 for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. The box also starts shipping that day, so it may not be at the door when the game comes out. That's not unusual for collector's editions, and delivery time depends on the shipping option picked at checkout.
