Rockstar Games has commented on the GTA 6 leaks for the first time, one day before its Extended Look premieres on Netflix. The studio calls the leaked gameplay "heartbreaking for our team" and still points to a November 19 launch.
In its post on social media, Rockstar apologizes to players for how long it has taken to finish the game and to share official gameplay, and says the game is nearly finished. It also admits that the experience it planned may now be affected by spoilers and asks players to wait a bit longer for the game itself. GTA 6 is scheduled to launch on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S on November 19, 2026. The studio closes by thanking community members who sent messages of support to the team this week.
What has leaked
The leaks began on August 18, when an anonymous person or group calling itself CyberLeek posted unreleased GTA 6 clips and images that appear to show the game's map. New clips have followed almost daily. They show Jason Duval, one of the two main characters, driving, fighting and playing basketball. Rockstar's statement describes the videos as GTA 6 gameplay.
CyberLeek says the leaks are a protest against digital preorders and a game without a disc release, and promotes a cryptocurrency token alongside the footage. Take-Two, Rockstar's parent company, has filed subpoenas, legal orders to hand over data, asking Microsoft and Discord for information that could identify the leaker, according to GameSpot.
If you want to stay spoiler-free until the premiere, I recomand mute GTA and CyberLeek on social media for now.
When and where to watch
Grand Theft Auto VI: An Extended Look premieres on Netflix on Thursday, August 27, at 3 p.m. ET (9 p.m. CEST). Netflix subscribers see it first. It arrives on Rockstar's YouTube channel six hours later and is free to watch there. Rockstar says it looks forward to sharing more soon.
