Pirate Survival Game Windrose Sells 1 Million Copies in Six Days

·

Windrose has sold 1 million copies in six days, Kraken Express announced on April 19, 2026. On the same day, more than 200,000 people were playing the pirate survival game at once, according to the studio.

Windrose entered Early Access on PC on April 14. It comes from Kraken Express, an Uzbek studio formerly known as Windrose Crew. Players take on the role of a captain who challenges Blackbeard. They build a base, craft gear, fight with sabers, pistols and muskets, and sail their own ship into naval battles, either solo or in co-op.

Early Access means the game is playable but unfinished. Kraken Express has released hotfixes since launch, and in its milestone post the studio thanks players for their patience while it keeps working on fixes.

In Early Access the game costs $29.99 on Steam and the Epic Games Store. Kraken Express plans to raise the price for the full release, which is supposed to add more biomes, bosses, enemies and ships. The studio has not announced a date for it yet.
