Xbox has announced XP, a new division focused on expanding how fans experience its game franchises beyond the games themselves. It will cover film and television, licensed products, partnerships, and live experiences, with Kayleen Walters moving from Mojang to lead it as president.
XP is a nod to “Experience Points.” Xbox says the division brings together work that had been spread across its teams. Its four areas are:
- XBOX PICTURES: film and television adaptations.
- XBOX PRODUCTS: licensed products and merchandise.
- XBOX PARTNERSHIPS: work with creators, brands, and communities, including sponsorships.
- XBOX PLACES: live events, broadcasts, attractions, and destinations.
Xbox says games will remain at the heart of its franchises. The XP announcement lays out the division’s scope but does not attach any specific new project to it.
The reorganization also changes Mojang’s leadership. Maria Angelidou-Smith is set to become CEO of Mojang and Minecraft on October 19, 2026.
