Enshrouded leaves Early Access with its full map and new tools for builders

·

Enshrouded 1.0 launched on October 15, 2026, on PC and PlayStation 5, ending the survival RPG's Early Access phase. The update opens the whole map, finishes the main story and adds Sparkworks, a system for building puzzles and traps into player bases.

Enshrouded is set in Embervale, a kingdom swallowed by a deadly fog called the Shroud. Players fight, gather resources, rescue survivors who unlock new crafting options, and build bases on terrain they can dig into and reshape, alone or in co-op. The game had been in Steam Early Access since January 2024.

A new region and the end of the story

The biggest addition is Cinder's Cradle, a new region in the far north. On the ground, lava runs through a ruined wasteland. Above it float islands that the Ancients, Embervale's lost civilization, lifted into the sky and a new enemy faction guards the area.

The rest of Embervale is open now as well, including areas and dungeons that stayed locked during Early Access. The main story also gets its ending, which Keen Games describes as concluded "for now." To match the new region, the level cap rises to 50.

Among the smaller changes, mages get new spells and can now summon skeletons to fight for them. Lore notes and the main survivors are also voiced now, in English, German and Mandarin Chinese. The full changelog lists everything else.

Builders get logic, flight and more room

With Sparkworks, players link inputs such as levers and pressure plates to outputs such as doors and traps, then set rules for what happens. A 2D editor shows every connection. Keen Games suggests using it for trap dungeons, puzzles, parkour levels, arenas or escape rooms.

Through Adventure Sharing, players can share their world, Sparkworks creations included, and visit worlds other players have built.

After my first hours with 1.0, building is the part I have the hardest time putting down. Tearing down a wall is quick, and the building material it was made from goes straight back into the inventory.

A new skill called Airborne Architect lets players build while flying freely, which makes hard-to-reach spots much easier to work on. Most areas that used to be no-build zones now allow bases. Storage chests can be upgraded where they stand without emptying them first, and a new renderer keeps large builds detailed from a distance instead of turning them into blocky shapes.

What returning players should know

Early Access saves carry over and are converted to a new format automatically. The first time an existing save loads in 1.0, the skill tree resets, so players have to spend their points again. Because the first hours of the game were reworked, Keen Games recommends starting over.

PC players who bought Enshrouded in Early Access don't have to buy it again. Crossplay between PC and PS5 is not available at launch. Keen Games says it is working on it but has no estimate yet.

Enshrouded costs $39.99 (39.99€), and Steam is running a launch discount until October 29. According to RPG Site, the Xbox Series X|S version is planned for spring 2027.
